Tote Bag Delivery to Passaic County Senior Services

Tote Bag Delivery to Passaic County Senior Services

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announces that based upon a collaboration with the Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor under direction of Prosecutor Tracy Thompson, 200 tote bags have been distributed to the Passaic County Department of Senior Services.

The bags were distributed by members of the Passaic County Insurance Fraud Unit to senior citizens who attend the daily Congregate and Adult Day Care programs at 930 Riverview Drive, Totowa with the remainder scheduled for delivery to seniors who attend the six other Congregate sites throughout the County. The reusable tote bags contain helpful contact information printed on the exterior to provide persons with information about identifying and reporting suspected Insurance Fraud.

Shirley Force, Executive Director of the Department of Senior Services of Passaic County, and Bennie Cook, Director of Nutrition for the division, through its Meals on Wheels program, work to ensure that all participating seniors receive a catered lunch at its senior facility or to have meals consistently delivered to their homes. Director Cook added that the goal is to have the same driver complete the same route every day to get to know the seniors, and, when possible, that drivers will spend time with the senior. In addition to delivering the meal, Director Cook added that the visit serves as a wellness check for each respective senior.
