NJ Civil Service Commission -Diversity in Law Enforcement Public Forum - 2022

Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes served as a panelist at the New Jersey Civil Service Commission’s Diversity in Law Enforcement Public Forum that took place at Passaic County Community College on October 27.

United States Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. who represents the 9th District of New Jersey, was the keynote speaker for this informational forum.

Dalton Price, former Lieutenant for the Paterson Police Department and President of the Bronze Shields of Passaic County also addressed the audience, consisting of law enforcement professionals and partners and individuals seeking a career in the field.

Present also were Deirdre L. Webster Cobb, Chair and CEO of the NJ Civil Service Commission and Moderator Charlie Williams, Executive Director, Office of Diversity Programs, CSC.

Additional panelists were Weldon Powell, Chief of Detectives, Office of the Attorney General; Jayne J. Johnson, Esq., Director, Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging; and V. Harrison Dillard, Chair, NJ Civil Rights and Diversity Committee, National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), who addressed best practices and tips for hiring a diverse workforce.
