Major Crimes Division

The Major Crimes Division of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office is comprised of several detectives and assistant prosecutors with numerous years of experience in investigating and prosecuting crimes that occur within Passaic County.  Detectives assigned to the Major Crimes Division are on call 24 hours per day, seven days a week and are tasked with either leading, or assisting local law enforcement in conducting criminal investigations.    

Major crimes detectives are trained in the most modern and advanced techniques of their respective disciplines with many also conducting training for municipal law enforcement officers.  This continuous instruction, combined with extensive experience, makes the Major Crimes Division highly successful in solving crimes and prosecuting those individuals responsible.

The Major Crimes Division of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office is staffed by Supervising Assistant Prosecutors who serve as directors of the Major Crimes Division and, in many instances, approve the arrests of suspects .  The Major Crimes Division has six Assistant Prosecutors who provide legal guidance to detectives within the Major Crimes Division as well as outside law enforcement agency’s within Passaic County while also prosecuting criminal cases in Passaic Superior Court.  A Captain oversees the daily operations of the Major Crimes Division and is assisted by supervisory investigative staff members.  Twenty detectives with specialized training are assigned to the various units that fall under Major Crimes.
