Fatal Investigations Unit

Fatal Investigations Unit

The Fatal Investigations Unit responds to and investigates all homicides and suspicious deaths within Passaic County.  The FIU also investigates all incidents in which a fatality occurs as a result of a fire or a motor vehicle collision.  Additionally, the detectives assigned to the FIU are assigned to the PCPO Shooting Response Team, which investigates all non-fatal police involved shooting incidents.  The Assistant Prosecutors assigned to the FIU provide legal advice throughout the investigative process, as well as reviewing and approving all charges in cases involving fatalities.  Additionally, the FIU Assistant Prosecutors formulate plea offers, present cases to the Grand Jury, conduct pre-trial motions, and they conduct plea hearings and jury trials.

Senior Assistant Prosecutor In-Charge Allan Nawrocki supervises the Unit and can be reached at Anawrocki@passaiccountynj.org.
