NJWLE 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient Captain Susan Bonds May 17, 2022


Captain Susan N. Bonds is the recipient of the 2019 New Jersey Women in Law Enforcement (NJWLE) Lifetime Achievement Award which was presented to her during the NJWLE Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 during its annual conference.

The award is presented annually to a law enforcement officer who has taken a long-term leadership role within their respective organizations in which they have made extraordinary contributions.

Captain Bonds received this distinguished award based upon her service to the Passaic County community since 1993.  Captain Bonds began her career with the PCPO as a Victim Witness Advocate assisting victims, witnesses and survivors to navigate through the criminal justice system.  In 1999, Captain Bonds was hired as a detective with the PCPO and successfully graduated from the police academy.  Captain Bonds has been assigned to several units within the PCPO including the Domestic Violence Unit, Special Victims Unit, Narcotics Division and Financial Crimes Division where she received the ranks of Detective Sergeant and Detective Lieutenant. 

She received the rank of Detective Captain in December of 2019 and presently oversees the White Collar Crime Division which is comprised of the Public Integrity Unit, IT Unit, Homeland Security Unit, Financial Crimes Unit and the Insurance Fraud Unit.  

Captain Bonds has spent her career in service to the Passaic County community and communities throughout the State.  Captain Bonds has presented Domestic Violence Prevention programs to high school students, as has participated as a presenter for multiple career days and Black History month celebrations in the Paterson Public School System. She has served as a guest lecturer at several local colleges. 

Captain Bonds has investigated and participated in thousands of investigations, arrests and court cases throughout her approximate 30 year career.  She epitomizes strength, compassion and fairness and continues to serve as a role model for all .
