Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor Joanne Kaminski

Joanne Kaminski was sworn in as a Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor on August 17, 2009. She attended Colgate University and graduated cum laude in 1983 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Spanish. In 1986, she graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School.

From 1986 through 1987, she served as judicial clerk to the Honorable Arthur Minuskin, a Judge of the Superior Court. After the clerkship, she was employed as a legal associate with a small, general practice law firm in Paramus, NJ. In October 1988, she began her employment as an assistant prosecutor with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office where she handled a variety of cases in the Grand Jury, Sex Crimes and Trial units.

She joined the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office in February 1994 and was initially assigned to the Trial section. During that time, she successfully prosecuted numerous cases including homicide, armed robbery and sexual assault trials. In January 2000, she was assigned to the Grand Jury Unit and became the supervising attorney for the unit in September 2003. In September of 2007, she was appointed the Chief Assistant Prosecutor in charge of the Grand Jury Unit.
