Executive First Assistant Prosecutor James P. Berado

image001Executive First Assistant Prosecutor James P. Berado was sworn in as Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor in August of 2009. He assumed the position of Executive First Assistant Prosecutor on June 10, 2021. Prior to that, he was the Chief Assistant Prosecutor of the Insurance Fraud and Intel Units.   

EFAP Berado is the PCPO Civil Litigation Coordinator and serves as Point of Contact with County Counsel, UASI, Passaic County Police Academy, and the County Working Group.  He is also the INTEL Unit Legal Advisor.

EFAP Berado previously supervised the day-to-day operations of the Administrative Trial Division of the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office in Paterson.  The Administrative Trial Division consists of the following units; Trial, Criminal Justice Processing, Juvenile, Appellate, Domestic Violence, Pre Indictment Court, Grand Jury, Victim Advocacy, Veteran's Diversion and Animal Cruelty.

From 2009 through 2015 EFAP Berado supervised the Totowa location of the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and its investigative units including Homicide, Vehicular Homicide, SVU, Arson, Narcotics, White Collar, Insurance Fraud, Public Integrity, Forfeiture and Intel.
